The Shepherd's Cottage

The Shepherd's Cottage was home for the next 2 weeks. I’ve stayed here before but in the Upper Finlarig Cottage.

This one is cosier and has lovely views across the fields. A great result turning up at the same time the snow reappears.

You are not alone, I had several Red Squirrels feeding most days. Lots of birdlife as well. Every morning I sat in the kitchen watching and photographing them. It was awesome, make sure you have a lot of feed because they are very hungry.

The cottage is a perfect place to stay giving you easy access to all the surrounding areas. You can walk for miles without even getting in your vehicle.

The views from the kitchen was just like living in a hide. the wildlife is all around. I would start the day sitting watching the Red Squirrels and Great Spotted Woodpecker feeding while I sipped my tea. I often see Brown Hares in the fields. I even see the Stoat running along the brook one morning. Everyday had a new surprise.

I’ve added a video below, taken on my phone of this magical view.
