Back To The Cairngorms

Having settled into the Cottage, I thought I would try and get some Stag photos, so I headed to Laggan.

As you turn off the A86 it’s always worth a stop at Laggan Coffee Bothy and Gallery. Great coffee and great photos.

It’s a single track all the way taking you along the River Spey.

Keep your eyes peeled as the Stags are all around. You can photograph them from your vehicle or close by.

I ended up spending a couple of days there

How lucky was I, the whole herd jumping the fencing

I find it so difficult driving around and wanting to stop every 2 minutes because there’s always another image to capture. It would be so much easier if I only captured wildlife.

Not far from where I was staying is Carrbridge. I have always looked at the old packhorse bridge when passing, but this time I stopped for a photo. It’s easy accessible and a short walk from the carpark.

Carrbridge's most famous landmark is the old packhorse bridge, from which the village is named. The bridge was built in 1717 and is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands.

While the snow was still here I went to Lochindorb, it’s a great place to see the Red grouse. A single-track road goes around the loch and while slowly driving from your vehicle you can see all the wildlife.

The loch is a popular spot with birdwatchers, who come to see the local Black-throated Divers and Greylag Geese

Driving back home was another one of those stop start stop start journeys. The sky was changing all the time so I had to grab a few photos

The bleak landscape along the B9007.

Still on the B9007 and the sunset brightens up the amazing sky. One of my favorite images from the trip

My time staying at the cottage has come to an end, and as much as I loved it I was looking forward to my next adventure, The Isle Of Skye.

I will leave you with this beautiful view looking down at Upper Finlarig Cottages taken on a crisp frosty morning.
