The Start Of 2023

February 22nd and I’m heading for Scotland. Yes Yes I know Scotland again but it’s fantastic in the winter.

I plan to overnight at Bamburgh and visit Sea Houses for the Eider Duck.

This time I decided to travel a different way and headed towards Glenshee thinking there could be snow. unfortunately, there wasn’t. I parked up for the night opposite the Devil’s Elbow.

The next morning I headed for the Cairngorms, a slow and painful journey at one point I was getting closer to Aberdeen because of diversions.

Back in Cairngorms, my idea was to start at Loch Garten to check out the Cresties, but unfortunately, they were still building the new centre.

A new plan to go up to the top of the Cairngorm Mountains to search for Ptarmigan, as the funicular was open it would be rude not to travel up on it.

It was so worthwhile with amazing views and beautiful weather but no Ptarmigan.

I also hiked up the Corries searching for Ptarmigan and Mountain Hares. I was lucky to find a hare up on the rocky mountainside. It was like where’s Wally

The whole area around Glenmore is truly amazing with so much to see and do, even in winter. I was walking Max along a path around the woods one morning when I heard the sound of Cresties in the pine trees. That was now my daily visit for the week, photography heaven.
